George Burgess
George Burgess was raised in Manchester, UK, in an entrepreneurial family that provided security services to high-net-worth individuals, celebrities, and leading corporations. Before establishing the family business in 1982, George’s father, Ross Burgess, enjoyed a prolific music career with EMI Records during the 1970s— touring across Europe, headlining stadiums, and collaborating with legendary acts like The Beatles.
Following in his father’s footsteps, George spent 15 years performing and recording music with major record labels, performing at renowned festivals, and working alongside influential artists. During this time, he also served as an advisor for one of Britain’s wealthiest families, whose lineage dates back to the 1700s, managing the protection of their clientele and assets. Driven by his innate entrepreneurial spirit, George eventually transitioned into the real estate investment sector.
Within just three months of joining Europe’s largest independent financial advisory firm, he rose to become Head of Institutional Real Estate Investments. Building on his expanding expertise, George went on to advise one of London’s largest private family offices, gaining firsthand insight into the confidential, high- stakes environment of family office boardrooms. In 2019, recognizing a pressing need among U.S.-based commercial real estate sponsors for dependable, single-source equity partners, he founded Burgess Group Capital.
Since its inception, Burgess Group Capital has facilitated over $1 billion in programmatic joint-venture relationships—underscoring George’s commitment to connecting sponsors with strategic capital and empowering them to scale their real estate ventures.
